Blake Barnett may be the next starting quarterback for Alabama, pending an upcoming battle for the coveted spot vacated by Jake Coker.
And he may win that job wearing a jersey other than the No. 6 that the Crimson Tide fans became accustomed to seeing in 2015.
On Saturday, the QB tweeted a Photoshopped version of the picture featured at the top of this story.

The jersey number has been changed from No. 6 to No. 8, and his caption simply says “Back to the old ways. #8”
Barnett did wear No. 8 during his high school career, and he also sported the number during the 2015 Under Armour All-American game.
As Alabama beat writer Charlie Potter points out, there is one problem with this potential transition.
Alabama WR Robert Foster wore the No. 8 jersey in 2015 prior to suffering a season-ending injury and is still listed on the team’s roster.
The possibility that Foster himself may be changing numbers as well does exist.
Barnett is still listed as No. 6 on the official Alabama roster.
