The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a 5-0 record this season. A large part of the Chiefs’ undefeated start is their dominant defense. NBC Sports’ Cris Collinsworth believes former LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane is a driving force for that defense.
During a recent edition of the PFF NFL Show, Collinsworth showed plenty of love to the 22-year-old rookie who was the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Delane made an epic first impression as a pro with an interception on the third play of the season-opening victory vs. the Denver Broncos, and he’s been lights-out ever since.
Here’s what Collinsworth had to say:
“The most important guy on the defense in my opinion long term that’s Mansoor Delane,” Collinsworth said. “If we get some kind of matchup against Jaxson Smith-Njigba in this one, should be a lot of fun. You’ll remember Mansoor Delane, he was the top pick. First play that he covered anybody this year got an interception.”

Delane landed on his right shoulder on that interception and missed the rest of the game. He missed the following game vs. the Colts but has been back on the field the last 3 weeks.
Delane is a key component of a Chiefs defense that’s second in the NFL in points allowed per game (16.6). Along with the interception, he’s recorded 15 solo tackles and 3 pass deflections.
The Chiefs will aim for a sixth straight victory when they face the host Seattle Seahawks this week on Sunday Night Football (8:20 p.m. ET/NBC).
