Week 1’s clash between Clemson and LSU offers fans a look at 2 coaching philosophies that could not be more opposite.

On one side you have Lane Kiffin, who has already overseen a few controversies before he even walks out for his first game as LSU’s head coach. Kiffin and the Tigers are looking to include former NFL rookies in their rotations this regular season, with those players searching for an extra year of eligibility through the court system.

As the SEC and other power conferences push back, teams and players are left in the dark as Week 1 inches closer.

That includes Dabo Swinney, whose loyalty to his system of talent progression has put the Tigers a little behind the 8-ball as we continue into the NIL era. Swinney stated Tuesday that he is vehemently against NFL players returning to college.

“I’m at a loss for words,” Swinney told reporters, via ESPN. “I would just say it’s kinda embarrassing. It’s just embarrassing that that’s where we are. I don’t blame the kids… I just think it’s embarrassing where we are with college football. We’ve been there for a while. I just keep my energy, my focus on the things I control, the things that matter, that’s these kids here and our team.”

“All that outside stuff… no pun intended, we just stay in our lane here at Clemson. Try to.”

LSU and Clemson face off at 7:30 p.m. on ABC this Saturday night. Make sure you stocked your popcorn.
