The Oregon Ducks have not had a great start to the 2026 campaign. Dan Lanning’s team barely beat Boise State in its season opener, then lost in humongous-upset fashion against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 2.
Days later, the Ducks’ head coach still isn’t handling that defeat well. During his Monday press conference, Lanning blasted a reporter for asking about Dante Moore “choosing” to skip his postgame press conference following the Cowboys’ loss.
“I don’t think he chose not to,” Lanning said. “Did you know he was getting an IV? He was getting two IVs… have you ever given an interview while you’re getting an IV at the same time… does that make a little more sense? Yeah… and then there’s a bus and a flight you’re trying to catch as well… have any of our players not been available to talk?”
When the reporter said the information about Moore’s treatment wasn’t relayed to media, Lanning asked, “should it be? should it be?” Lanning then seemingly blamed the reporter for “misconstruing” things.

Duck supporters did not appreciate Lanning’s approach to the question, but opposing fanbases kindly provided reasoning for his responses in the comment section.
Oregon, after falling 15 spots in the AP poll, hosts Portland State on Friday night (10:30 p.m. E.T., Big Ten Network) before traveling to Los Angeles to play the USC Trojans in Week 4.
