Danny Kanell digested a rather wild Week 6 of the college football season and revealed his fresh top 12 rankings on Sunday morning that included 6 SEC teams.
But even though the SEC was well-represented in the CBS Sports analyst’s new rankings, the very top of Kanell’s list had an ACC and Big Ten flavor. Miami topped Kanell’s rankings going into Week 7 after the Hurricanes remained undefeated Saturday night by holding off a furious Florida State rally in a 28-22 victory. The Canes are 5-0 after winning their ACC opener and sending Florida State to its 2nd loss of the season.
The Big Ten followed on Kanell’s list with Ohio State and Oregon coming in at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. The Buckeyes beat down Minnesota in primetime on Saturday, while Oregon had a bye in Week 6 as it prepares for a Week 7 showdown at home against Indiana. Speaking of those Hoosiers, who also had a bye, Kanell had Indiana at No. 5 in his rankings.
The top SEC team on Kanell’s new list was No. 4 Ole Miss, which also had a bye in Week 6 before it steps out of conference in Week 7 to face Washington State. Coming in at No. 6 was Texas A&M, which remained unbeaten on Saturday night with an easy victory over Mississippi State.
Here is Kanell’s full top 12 rankings, which also included Alabama and Missouri, 2 teams that will collide in Columbia in Week 7:
