Danny Kanell says Florida loss is ‘as embarrassing as it gets’ for Steve Sarkisian, Texas

Danny Kanell, like the rest of the country, saw Texas lose its second consecutive game on Saturday, as the Longhorns lost at home to Florida, 27-24.

After the game, he didn’t hold back on his critique of Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, calling it ‘as embarrassing as it gets’ for the program.

“They went out and got the pieces that Arch Manning needed,” Kanell said on CBS postgame. “They went and got Cam Coleman and got two running backs. This is supposed to be a roster that can compete for a national championship, and you just lost at home to a team that got blown out by South Carolina, and oh, by the way, the Florida Gators did it with a backup quarterback. This is as embarrassing as it gets for Sark and Texas.”

Arch Manning struggled for much of the day, finishing 14-of-20 for 173 yards and one touchdown. He didn’t have much time throughout the day, as he was sacked five times and pressured throughout the entire day.

The rushing attack that Kanell mentioned finished with 30 carries for 99 yards.

Sarkisian has previously held strong in not relinquishing the play-calling duties, but something has to change for the Longhorns. Texas still has a chance to make it to the College Football Playoff, but its margin for error is gone.

The home game next week against Ole Miss just got much bigger as the Longhorns prepare to take on one of the best QBs in the country.
