Danny Kanell has been known to have some interesting takes over the years. The former Florida State QB turned college football analyst loves to take shots at the SEC.

After Week 2, Kanell updated his top-12 rankings, which he says are based off of résumé. This week, he has USF in the No. 1 spot following the Bulls’ road win at Florida. That marks the second top-25 win for Alex Golesh and company, after the Bulls took down Boise State in Week 1.

From there, Kanell has Ohio State, Florida State, Miami and Auburn in his top 5. As for other SEC teams, Kanell included LSU at No. 6, Oklahoma at No. 9 and Ole Miss at No. 10:

Naturally, the AP and Coaches Polls today will look much different than the projections Kanell lays out here, but he does have an interesting case for USF. The Bulls’ 2 top-25 wins are indeed impressive.

It’s safe to say Golesh is becoming a hot name for potential Power 4 jobs that come open during this coaching carousel season. We’ll see what happens moving forward, but it seems at least reasonable that USF will find its way into the top 25 of the polls this week.
