Every week, former FSU QB and current college football analyst Danny Kanell updates his ranking of the top 12 teams in college football.
After a weekend that saw 5 of the top 8 teams in the AP Poll lose, there were some major changes. For example, the Georgia Bulldogs were No. 1 in last week’s top 12 for Kanell. This week, after a home loss to Auburn, the Bulldogs dropped to No. 11.
A total of 4 SEC teams are in Kanell’s latest top 12, led by the Tennessee Volunteers at No. 6. Tennessee, of course, made it 3-straight wins over Alabama at Neyland Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Kentucky Wildcats (No. 7) and Ole Miss Rebels (No. 8) are also on the list this week, which is topped by BYU:
This was one of the most chaotic weekends in college football history, so it’s understandable that there would be some big-time changes to anyone’s rankings.
The AP Poll comes out on Sunday afternoon, so we’ll see how far Georgia drops in that important ranking.
How many SEC teams will make the 12-team Playoff field? That remains to be seen, but there are still plenty of competitive teams in the conference.
Check back next week to see how Kanell’s rankings change following Week 8.
