Dave Portnoy, Barstool Sports to no longer appear on Fox Big Noon Kickoff, per report
Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports won’t appear anymore on Fox Sports’ Big Noon Kickoff, according to a report on Friday night by The Athletic.
The sources in The Athletic‘s report wished to remain anonymous because “they were not authorized to speak publicly.”
Fox Sports declined to comment on the change in the network’s popular Saturday morning pregame show, according to the report by sports media insider Andrew Marchand.
Portnoy and other Barstool personalities like Dan “Big Cat” Katz have been part of the Big Noon Kickoff show for a little over a year.
According to Marchand’s report, there wasn’t “one specific reason to account for the abrupt timing of the decision, other than that the constant challenge of trying to unit Fox Sports’ more traditional show with Barstool’s persona proved unsustainable.”
Portnoy is a Michigan alum and booster who has faced backlash over his presence on the show when it’s broadcast from Ohio State home games. According to Marchand’s report, there were reports that last year Portnoy was banned from being in Ohio Stadium. Ohio State athletic director Ross Bjork refuted those reports about Portnoy, according to Marchand.
According to Marchand’s report, the programming decision announced on Friday night doesn’t affect Wake-Up Barstool, which is the Barstool Sports show that airs daily on weekdays on FS1.
Fox Big Noon Kickoff will apparently go forward with some changes, but what won’t change is that the pregame show will deliver for fans who want to see which teams can get to that coveted College Football Playoff. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the best odds to make the 12-team field come December:
