The saga unfolding down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, over the past week has caught the entire college football world by storm, and one man in particular has been at the center of it all.
This would state Governor Jeff Landry, who has made headline after headline for his very public criticism of now-former LSU head coach Brian Kelly and athletic director Scott Woodward over the past several days.
Many people have criticized Landry for his comments and involvement in the entire ordeal, but Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy actually had praise for Landry on Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff show on Saturday morning.
“That’s everything we love about college football,” Portnoy said. “This is what makes it such a wild, whacky, great sport, it is, it’s because people have no rationale and no common sense. So, I love the Governor taking this into his own hands. I love calling out the AD. That’s what we all want… This is what makes college football great: accountability. We need more of it.”
Portnoy clearly loves what he saw and heard from the Governor this week, and there will more than likely be more of it to come as LSU continues the search for its next head coach.
