David Pollack puts top 15 SEC team on upset alert

David Pollack doesn’t care that Tennessee is ranked 11th and on a nice 3-game winning streak.

And the former Georgia All-American linebacker turned college football analyst isn’t concerned that South Carolina is only 3-3 this season with a 1-3 mark in the SEC.

Because he’s looking at Saturday’s Week 8 showdown at Williams-Brice Stadium and seeing a flat-out upset in the game that kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. Tennessee is rolling right now at 6-1 after last week’s home takedown of Alabama, but the Volunteers won’t be playing at home this Saturday.

They’ll be in a hostile environment in Columbia, and Pollack thinks they won’t be getting out alive — or at least without a stinging upset loss. On his See Ball Get Ball podcast this week, Pollack broke down why he believes so much in South Carolina on Saturday.

“This is full on red alert. This is South Carolina’s wheelhouse. Tennessee doesn’t create a lot of big plays. You know what South Carolina’s defense does a pretty good job of? Stopping the run. You know what South Carolina does a really good job of? Running the football, staying out of obvious third down,” said Pollack, who pointed to the running exploits of quarterback LaNorris Sellers and running back Matt Fuller giving Tennessee fits on Saturday.

“These feels like a trench war. I told you before the season that South Carolina was going to get somebody. They gonna get somebody. This is gonna be a great game. But I think it’s the run game of South Carolina. It’s the breaking tackles, making extra plays. South Carolina wins by seven.”

While Pollack is going with the unranked Gamecocks, the Kalshi market has another current outlook on the Tennessee-South Carolina battle on Saturday afternoon:
