Former LSU Tigers defensive back Derek Stingley Jr., who now stars for the Houston Texans, is giving back to Dunham School, where he played high school football.
According to Rivals, Stingley is gifting Dunham School with a brand-new turf practice field, which is set to be ready for the start of the 2026 high school football season. It will appropriately be named Derek Stingley Jr. Field.
Dunham athletics revealed Thursday that the gift is “the largest single alumni donation in school history.”
Here’s what Dunham AD and head football coach Neil Weiner said regarding Stingley’s gift:
“Great players leave an impact on the game, but the greatest leave something behind for others. Derek Stingley’s legacy will now live not only in what he accomplished on the field, but in the field he’s provided for every Tiger who follows.”
As you can see above, Stingley was the Louisiana High School Player of the Year in 2018 and graduated from Dunham in 2019. The former 5-star prospect immediately made an impact with LSU and was selected 3rd overall in the 2022 NFL Draft by Houston.
After dominating at the high school and collegiate level, Stingley wasted little time dominating in the NFL. He’s totaled 15 career interceptions across 4 seasons, as well as 51 pass deflections and 172 total tackles. Notably, Stingley is a 2-time pro bowler and a 2-time first-team All-Pro.
