The Nebraska Cornhuskers kicked off their 2025 season Thursday night with a 20-17 win over the Cincinnati Bearcats in the iconic Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

For Huskers’ sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola, this game was a bit more special than probably any other he’s played, as he got to play in front of his idol, Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

The former 5-star recruit has been modeling just about everything in his game after Mahomes, who has long been his idol at the professional ranks, but his impersonations tend to go a bit overboard.

This cropped up again against the Bearcats on Thursday, as Raiola was caught on camera doing the iconic Mahomes finger wiggle pre-snap, and it immediately drew an onslaught of social media posts clowning the Nebraska gunslinger.

For some, the extent to which Raiola continues to go in an attempt to copy Mahomes is starting to become a bit weird and is going well beyond the realm of simple idolizing.

For the guys over at Pardon My Take, Raiola’s shenanigans offered them the perfect opportunity to poke fun in the form of a meme that compared the Nebraska QB to Syndrome from the iconic Pixar film The Incredibles.

While the lengths Raiola continues to go to model himself after his idol, Mahomes, can border on absurd at times, in the end, there are far worse things for a college star to be making headlines over.

As long as he continues to win games, then it really doesn’t matter who he acts like at the end of the day.
