It’s looking like SEC fans won’t have to wait long to hear a familiar name at the upcoming NFL Draft. One analyst has the SEC dominating the first half of Round 1 with eight picks among the first 16.
Todd McShay has updated his mock draft, as he will again a few times between now and April 25. On Wednesday’s “The Paul Finebaum Show” the first eight SEC players to be named in McShay’s mock were shown in an on-screen graphic.
The ESPN analyst has Kentucky defender Josh Allen leading things off, going No. 3 to the New York Jets.
- No. 3 – Josh Allen (Kentucky)
- No. 4 – Quinnen Williams (Alabama)
- No. 5 – Devin White (LSU)
- No. 7 – Jawaan Taylor (Florida)
- No. 10 – Drew Lock (Missouri)
- No. 12 – DK Metcalf (Ole Miss)
- No. 14 – Montez Sweat (Mississippi State)
- No. 16 – Jonah Williams (Alabama)
Sweat could be one of the draftees to watch closest. There is some debate as to whether he belongs in the first-round.
As far as McShay’s mock, this would be a strong showing for the conference and sets up a potentially record-breaking first round.
