Egg Bowl 2021: Uniform combos, ESPN FPI’s predicted winner

The Egg Bowl is back as a Thanksgiving game this season.
In 2020, the first year featuring Lane Kiffin and Mike Leach on the sidelines, it was a Saturday game. Kiffin’s Ole Miss squad won 31-24 in Oxford.
This year’s game is in Starkville. The last Egg Bowl that was played in Starkville gave us the infamous Elijah Moore “dog pee” celebration that influenced the 21-20 outcome in favor of the Bulldogs.
For Thursday night’s game, Leach’s MSU squad is going with an all-maroon uniform combo.

Ole Miss, meanwhile, will sport the navy blue lids in its road look.

Ole Miss is ranked No. 9 with a 9-2 record on the season, but the current Vegas betting lines have unranked Mississippi State as the favorite Thursday night. ESPN’s Football Power Index agrees with MSU as the favorite, giving the Bulldogs a 52.6 percent chance to win.
We’ll see if the FPI and the folks in Vegas got it right. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
