The college football world has taken notice of Mizzou. Eli Drinkwitz doesn’t want it going to his players’ heads.

Mizzou improved to 2-0 with a thrilling comeback win over Kansas in the first Border War game since 2011. The 42-31 victory helped vault MU into the AP Top 25. Drinkwitz is tying to make sure the Tigers don’t get too full of themselves, borrowing a favorite phrase of Nick Saban‘s to describe the media hype.

A lot of rat poison out there,” Drinkwitz said Tuesday, per Cody Goodwin of Power Mizzou. “We’re going to need a lot of antidotes this week.

It’s unlikely Drinkwitz’s team has too much to worry about in Week 3. Mizzou is set to host a Louisiana squad that just lost to Rice, giving 206 rushing yards on 55 carries. The Ragin’ Cajuns also preferred the ground, rushing 31 times for 151 yards, while going 10-of-28 for 88 yards through the air.

Like many coaches, Drinkwitz wants his team to stay hungry after the impressive performance against Kansas.

I told our guys today: good teams win, great teams improve,” Drinkwitz said. “We have to keep improving.

After the Louisiana tuneup, Mizzou begins SEC play against No. 11 South Carolina.
