ESPN analyst predicts team, draft slot for Jermod McCoy on Day 3 of NFL Draft
Many analysts projected Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy to go in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft. As we prepare for Day 3 (Rounds 4-7), though, McCoy is still on the board due to long-term concerns over his knee (unrelated to the torn ACL that held him out of the 2025 season).
When McCoy was last on the field (2024), he recorded 9 pass defenses and 4 interceptions. He was a second-team All-American for those efforts. Players with his ceiling don’t come around often, so someone is bound to take a chance on him this afternoon.
If ESPN’s Jordan Reid is correct, McCoy won’t wait long today. He has the Los Angeles Chargers taking him at No. 105 overall — just 5 picks into Round 4 — in his early Day 3 mock draft.
McCoy joined the Volunteers for his sophomore season in 2024 after a strong freshman campaign at Oregon State. He is ESPN’s No. 2 cornerback — and No. 16 overall — prospect in this draft class.
Four of ESPN’s top 9 available prospects are cornerbacks, meaning McCoy could see more peers get selected before finally getting the call. When he’s finally chosen, good luck removing the chip he has on his shoulder.
