ESPN has updated its bowl projections for all of FBS after a wild Week 7.

Tennessee is gearing up for a Week 8 contest against the Alabama Crimson Tide in a game that will have huge implications for both the SEC title and College Football Playoff races. Right now, the Volunteers are on the outside looking in when it comes to the CFP field, as 2 ESPN analysts have them playing in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura both have the Volunteers matching up with the Nebraska Cornhuskers in that bowl game.

While the Volunteers may be not be in the projected CFP bracket entering Week 8, a win next Saturday would figure to have them squarely in the field.

Tennessee was able to get a 34-31 win against Arkansas on Saturday, but the game wasn’t quite as close as the final score may indicate. Tennessee led by double-digits for most of the second half until the Razorbacks scored a late touchdown.

Tennessee will look to make a statement against Alabama on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
