ESPN drops fiery trailer for upcoming Nick Saban documentary

ESPN gave Alabama fans, SEC fans and college football fans exactly what they needed on a Thursday afternoon in late August, with the 2026 season at the doorstep.
The network gave them an intense, 1-minute-long trailer for its upcoming documentary on legendary head coach Nick Saban. The 6-part documentary, which is simply called “Saban,” will premiere on Oct. 8, which also just happens to be 2 days before the Oct. 10 clash between Alabama and Georgia in Tuscaloosa.
“Get your popcorn ready,” wrote ESPN atop its social media post that gave fans a taste of what to expect in October when the Saban documentary is available.
All it took was 1 minute to get fans fired up for the deep dive into the now 74-year-old West Virginia native who built his coaching legend in the SEC, leading Alabama to 6 national championships and LSU to 1 national title before that.
Fans will indeed have their popcorn ready on that Thursday in October, but here’s the taste they’re getting now in late August:
Of course, Saban is now a part of the ESPN machine, as a college football analyst who appears on the popular Saturday morning preview show College GameDay.
That’s where fans get their fill of Saban now. But they can also look forward to the 6-episode documentary come Oct. 8, just in case they wanted a reminder of the legend that came to be in the SEC and specifically in Tuscaloosa with those 6 national titles before Saban retired at the end of the 2023 season.
