ESPN expected to lay off Karl Ravech after 33 years, per report

The Worldwide Leader In Sports is reportedly set to continue its latest round of layoffs following Ryan Clark’s firing on Monday. According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, Sunday Night Baseball‘s Karl Ravech, who also does broadcasts for college basketball, is expected to be laid off by ESPN on Tuesday.
Ravech spent 33 years with the company and called last night’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ravech was hired in 1993 and primarily appeared on SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight, and in SEC circles he’s best known for his coverage of college basketball and the College World Series. He called Sunday Night Baseball until its recent move to NBC.
As mentioned above, ESPN’s round of layoffs is ongoing, but Ravech is the biggest name included in the layoffs thus far. Ryan Clark was fired from the company on Monday while off-air during NFL Live. Clark started, but did not finish his final show.
No update has been made on who will take over the remainder of ESPN’s baseball coverage for the 2026 season.
