The Tennessee Volunteers are hoping to reach the SEC Championship in Atlanta for the first time since 2007 this season. Before they potentially do that, they’ll travel to the city in Week 2 for a contest against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Head coach Josh Heupel and Co. handled business in Week 1, dominating the Furman Paladins 56-9 to open their season. Freshman passer Faizon Brandon completed 76.5% of his passes (13/17) for 226 yards and three touchdowns to open his collegiate career.
The strong showing is a big reason why ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Vols a 76.3% chance of winning on Saturday.
For a road team to be seen as such a heavy favorite in a legitimate Power Four matchup, something has to have gone wrong for the home school. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to Georgia Tech in its season opener.
