The biggest matchup for Week 5 in the SEC is the highly anticipated rematch between the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and the No. 17 Alabama Crimson Tide, a game that is sure to carry significant implications for the SEC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff.

The Dawgs and the Tide are no strangers to one another, and last season’s instant all-time classic under the lights at Bryant-Denny Stadium was a perfect encapsulation of how these two iconic programs have played one another over the past decade or so.

Now, they’ll be meeting inside Sanford Stadium for the first time since 2015, and there is once again so much at stake for both programs as they approach the midway point of their respective campaigns.

With the talent that both sides possess, this is sure to be another nail-biter, but ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) is giving the Dawgs a 54.8% chance at securing the much-needed home victory over the team that has been their boogeyman for going on 15 years at this point.

Should Kirby Smart‘s team manage to pull out the victory, then they will have passed yet another massive early-season test, while Kalen DeBoer will, conversely, still look the part of a coach who is simply unable to win on the road.

Regardless of the outcome, though, there are sure to be a ton of fireworks between the hedges once this one kicks off at 7:30 on Saturday night.
