There’s no mascot more popular in the SEC than Tigers. Three of the conference’s schools lay claim to the big cats. Two of them — Missouri and Auburn — are duking it out for name domain in Week 8 of the 2025 college football season.
Mizzou (5-1, 1-1 SEC) enters action off its lone defeat, 27-24 to Alabama, last Saturday. Auburn (3-3, 0-3 SEC) heads into the game on a 3-game losing streak. Head coach Hugh Freeze has been dealt some tough officiating blows during his team’s skid, but he will need to start winning games sooner than later if he wants to remain employed in 2026.
This game is Missouri’s first of the year outside the friendly confines of Faurot Field. It will be interesting to see how Beau Pribula and Ahmad Hardy handle the raucous environment at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Prior to Week 7, Mizzou had not played anyone near the caliber of Auburn.
ESPN’s Football Power Index is projecting Mizzou to win this game. FPI gives Eli Drinkwitz’s squad a 53.7% chance to beat Auburn (46.3%).
