An anonymous coach recently called Alabama coach Nick Saban a cheater in an interview with CBS Sports, alluding that’s how Saban gets the best recruits to play for the Crimson Tide.
ESPN’s Mike Greenberg was not amused.
On Monday, Greenberg went off on the anonymous coach on ESPN’s “Get Up.” The host called that coach a “a pathetic chicken” in part of a long rant against the coach’s anonymity.
“If youโre going to accuse Nick Saban of cheating under the cloak of anonymity, to whichever coach it is whoโs saying this, you are a pathetic chicken, thatโs what you are,” Greenberg said on the show. “You are a pathetic coward. And you are the same person who is challenging your players in practice every single day to be brave, to be there, to be on that line. 105 degrees outside, ‘Weโre going to practice hard today, youโre not getting any water, youโre not taking a break because that would make you soft. Oh, but under the cloak of anonymity, Iโm going to say Nick Saban, the best coach in college football that probably kicks my behind every single season, is out-recruiting me because heโs cheating.’ That is pathetic and soft.โ
