ESPN college football expert Mark Schlabach has parsed the information that came out from around the college football world this spring.
Transfers came and transfers went. Some QB situations were settled. Others remain a battle as the summer session approaches.
Schlabach updated his way-too-early 2025 top-25 rankings on Thursday for ESPN, and he has an impressive 9 SEC football squads included on his list.
Penn State and Clemson take the first 2 spots from the Big Ten and the ACC, respectively, but then the SEC domination commences, as you can see below:
- No. 3 — Texas
- No. 4 — Georgia
- No. 6 — LSU
- No. 9 — Alabama
- No. 13 — South Carolina
- No. 19 — Florida
- No. 23 — Texas A&M
- No. 24 — Ole Miss
- No. 25 — Oklahoma
In this 12-team College Football Playoff era, losing 1 or 2 games in the regular season isn’t a death sentence like it has been in years past. But with so many elite teams in the league, the top SEC squads will have their work cut out for them to put together impressive résumés.
Who will jump up in the rankings and who will drop when fall camps start? We’ll see what happens over the next few months as we await Week 1 of the 2025 college football season.
