Fans question why Auburn isn’t ranked despite beating No. 1/4 Georgia
Auburn pulled off one of many stunners in college football during Week 7’s action on Saturday, as the Tigers walked into Athens and left with a victory over then-No. 1 Georgia, the program’s first road win over its bitter rival since 2005.
The result moved Alex Golesh‘s squad to 4-2 ahead of a pivotal home date with LSU, but the AP Poll voters didn’t view the upset as a reason to rank Auburn this week.
In the latest polling revealed Sunday, the Tigers finished third in the “receiving votes category,” behind Oklahoma State and Oregon and in front of James Madison and Mississippi State.
With Auburn having taken down the now-No. 4 team in the land, many are confused as to how that wouldn’t equate to a ranking.
Some believe that another SEC team should have been removed in favor of Golesh’s squad, while others just think there is bias against the program in general.
And to add on, many are confused as to the organization of Texas, Florida and Missouri, as the Tigers’ victory over the Gators and UF’s win over UT did not prompt either side to be ranked above the loser.
