There’s perhaps no 3 better words in college football than ‘Hail Mary winner’ and Georgetown graced us with one for the ages on Saturday.
Georgetown pulled off a stunning 27-24 victory on Saturday vs. Morgan State with an epic 49-yard heave from Dez Thomas II to Jimmy Kibble as time expired.
Kibble’s teammates immediately rushed over to mob him in the end zone as the Hoyas gleefully celebrated the shocker.
That touchdown represented the lone points scored in the fourth quarter after Morgan State took a 24-21 edge into the final frame.
Thomas II and Kibble had excellent games overall in addition to the final second heroics.
Thomas completed 16 of his 30 passes for 211 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions while also rushing for 71 yards and a score. Thomas also tossed a 2-yard touchdown to Isaiah Grimes and a 10-yard score to Coen Sutton. The 6-foot-2 senior out of Houston is in his second season with Georgetown.
Kibble caught 5 passes for 110 yards, with his game-winning touchdown his longest reception. The 6-foot-1 senior from Leesburg, VA has spent his entire college career with the Hoyas.
The victory vaults Georgetown to a 3-3 mark and drops Morgan State to 2-4.
