Florida coaching search: Prediction markets indicate new favorite to land job

The Florida football coaching search has taken a turn over this holiday weekend.
Multiple reports on Friday stated that UF has moved on from its pursuit of Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. The Gators are instead expected to focus on other candidates as they search for a new head coach.

With Kiffin reportedly out of the way, who are the new favorites to land the Florida job? According to Kalshi, Tulane coach Jon Sumrall and Washington coach Jedd Fisch are the new leaders in the clubhouse.
Kalshi is one of a small handful of legal prediction markets in the United States. Users on Kalshi are able to make predictions on everything from Florida’s next head coach to the weather or even various political races.
As of Friday evening, Sumrall has become a significant favorite to take over for Billy Napier on a permanent basis in Gainesville. Here’s a live look at the Kalshi marketplace:
As of publication on Friday evening, Sumrall to be the next Florida coach is trading at 65 cents per contract. If a prediction is correct, users are paid out $1 per contract owned. That means roughly a $10 prediction on Sumrall to be UF’s next coach would pay out $15 if that proves to be accurate.

There is no known timetable for Florida to make a head coaching hire. However, the Gators would presumably like to finalize a deal with their next head coach in the coming days. The Early Signing Period for high school recruits will begin on Wednesday.
Florida will finish out the 2025 regular season against Florida State on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET.
