A defensive back’s extra year of eligibility will mean another season at Florida. According to Zach Goodall of 247Sports, veteran DB Asa Turner is a member of the Gators for the 2025 season.
After playing for Washington from 2019-23, Turner transferred to Florida ahead of the 2024 season, his 6th year of college football. He only appeared briefly in the Week 1 contest against Miami before suffering a season-ending injury.
In March, Turner learned that the NCAA had granted him a 7th year of eligibility. At that time, Billy Napier stopped short of saying Turner had a spot on UF’s 2025 roster.
He’s been granted an extra year of eligibility, and I think his role on our team and his health is a little bit to be determined,” Napier said in March. “But I think in general, it’s a good thing for him.
Goodall notes that Turner was not listed on an internal Florida roster on July 1. His inclusion for 2025 appears to be a recent development.
For his career, Turner has played in 44 games, recording 149 tackles (7 TFLs) and 6 interceptions. Per Goodall, it’s not currently clear if Turner will be on scholarship for 2025. The Gators open fall camp on Wednesday.
