Florida has been making a ton of moves this off-season as the Jon Sumrall era is underway in Gainesville. Between the transfer portal, keeping their own players as well as bringing in a staff, things have been busy in Gainesville.

Sumrall has brought in a ton of new coaches to help him get things rolling in the right direction. On Thursday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel report that former Wofford co-defensive coordinator Jonathan Saxon will be joining the staff to help with the defensive line.

Saxon has been the co-defensive coordinator for Wofford since 2023. Before that, he was on the South Carolina State staff for the previous eight seasons, including the last four as the defensive coordinator.

For Sumrall and the Gators there are many steps in getting the team among the nation’s best. While they ultimately want to be competing in the College Football Playoff, they still have a long ways away from competing for an SEC Championship, according to the latest odds on Kalshi:

Sumrall hasn’t been shy about how busy he has been since becoming the Florida coach, as he recently said he had to cancel an anniversary trip to Italy. The season doesn’t kick off until Sept. 5, but there is still a lot of work to do.
