Florida football makes late addition to 2026 roster, signs ex-basketball player
Florida has reportedly signed former Jacksonville basketball player Jaylen Jordon to play tight end for the Gators in 2026.
On3’s Pete Nakos was first to share that news on Friday afternoon.
Jordon is listed at 6-foot-6, 240 pounds. The Gators will be hoping his size and physicality will be enough to contribute at tight end in the SEC during the 2026 season.

Jordon won’t have much time to make an impact โ the 2026 season will be his final year of college eligibility. He only played 1 season at Jacksonville, but previously played basketball for Flagler College and Georgia Southwestern State University.
Florida‘s tight end room includes Luke Harping, Amir Jackson and Lacota Dippre, among others. The Gators are tasked with replacing Hayden Hansen, who transferred to Oklahoma this past offseason after leading Florida tight ends with 30 receptions in 2025.
With no spring transfer portal period this year, Jon Sumrall and his staff were forced to get creative in finding ways to add depth and talent to Florida’s 2026 roster.
Florida will face FAU to open the 2026 season on Sept. 5.
