Brian Kelley, part of the country duo Florida Georgia Line, has responded after Dabo Swinney mixed him up with Brian Kelly, the LSU head coach (similar spelling, but with one less ‘e’).

Long story short, Swinney and his wife, Kathleen, were on vacation in Florida when he learned that Brian Kelly’s wife owned a souvenir shop near the beach they were at. Behind the shop was a stage for musical artists to perform, with Swinney recounting that he saw a sign that said “Brian Kelly”, thinking that the LSU head coach would be performing.

Turns out, it was the wife of Brian Kelley, the country singer, that owned the store, not the wife of Brian Kelly, the LSU head coach.

Brian Kelley caught wind of the mixup and posted his reaction on an Instagram story.

“This is hilarious!!!!” Kelley wrote. “You should have stayed for the show!”

The reason Swinney told the story was because Clemson is set to host LSU on August 30, the first meeting between the 2 programs since Joe Burrow and LSU finished off a perfect season in the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship Game. We’ll see if Brian Kelley takes Swinney up on the invitation to stop by and watch Swinney’s Tigers take on Kelly’s Tigers at Clemson’s Death Valley.
