Florida added a new transfer commitment on Monday morning.

James Madison transfer tight end Lacota Dippre has elected to continue his college football career in Gainesville. He shared the news on social media.

Dippre arrives to Florida with 2 seasons of eligibility. He began his career at Charlotte in 2023. He redshirted in 2023 and made the move from tight end to defensive line in the spring of 2024. Dippre moved back to tight end at James Madison for the 2025 season.

This season, Dippre was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt tight end. He played in all 14 games for the Dukes, making 13 starts.

Dippre had 17 catches for 192 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. He also had 4 carries for 49 yards and a touchdown, successfully converting 4 fake punts. His JMU bio notes that he had 2 or more catches in 6 games and 3 catches of at least 25 yards on the year.

Interestingly, Dippre is electing to play for Jon Sumrall over Billy Napier. James Madison hired Napier as its new head coach after Bob Chesney took the UCLA job. Napier was fired from Florida during his 4th season with the Gators.

Sumrall has tabbed Evan McKissack as Florida’s tight ends coach. McKissack was co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach on Sumrall’s Tulane staff.
