Florida safety Asa Turner is not on the Gators’ updated 2025 roster, which was revealed on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the start of fall camp.

According to Nick de la Torre, the director of content for Florida’s NIL collective, Turner will not play this season.

Turner has dealt with injuries throughout his college career at both Florida and Washington. This would have been his 7th season of college football. He was granted an extra year of eligibility back in the spring, but it seems he may not use it this season. It’s unclear at this time if Turner will attempt to return to college football in 2026.

This is a bit of a surprise, as it was reported earlier this week that Turner was set to be added to Florida’s 2025 roster. Turner was expected to provide depth for the Gators at safety in 2025. He hasn’t played since suffering a season-ending injury during Week 1 of the 2024 campaign — his first with the Gators.

Turner was productive during his time at Washington. He recorded 148 tackles and 7 interceptions across parts of 5 seasons with the Huskies. Although he played for Washington from 2019-23, Turner received a blanket eligibility waiver for 2020 and then a redshirt year in 2023 as only played in 4 regular-season contests (postseason games don’t count against the 4-game maximum, per NCAA rules).
