Florida names team captains for primetime showdown at No. 4 Miami
Florida named its team captains for Saturday night’s Sunshine State showdown at No. 4 Miami, as the programs going in opposite directions right now kick it off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
For Florida, it’s a chance to snap its 2-game losing streak, which included a stunning home loss to South Florida followed by a Week 3 setback at LSU. Florida head coach Billy Napier is feeling the heat again, and on Saturday night it’ll be really hot in Miami Gardens as the longtime rivals hook up again.
Last season, Miami came to Gainesville in Week 1 and put a 41-17 hurting on the home team, but Florida will get a chance for some payback under the lights at Hard Rock Stadium. It’s a huge matchup for the Gators, a potential for a big turning point in their season, and on Friday 3 players were entrusted with being team captains for the showdown.
Those trio of captains will be senior center Jake Slaughter, sophomore linebacker Myles Graham and senior punter Tommy Doman.

While Slaughter anchors the UF offensive line, Graham has registered 17 tackles, 11 of them solo, so far this season, and Doman has averaged 45.1 yards on 10 punts with a long punt of 63 yards.
The trio will lead UF in 1 of the most important games of its season, as it tries to get off the canvas after those 2 straight losses.
