Florida reportedly finalizing RB coach hire to complete Jon Sumrall’s initial on-field staff

Florida reportedly has its on-field coaching staff set for Jon Sumrall’s first season coaching the Gators.
Earlier Monday, it was reported that Sumrall was targeting Duke running backs coach Chris Foster for the same position with the Gators. Nick Marcinko of Gator Country is reporting Monday evening that Florida is set to hire Foster.
Foster spent the 2025 season at Duke. His previous stops include Northwestern (2023-24), East Carolina (2021-22) and Georgia Southern (2016-2020).
With Foster on board, Sumrall has filled out his staff of on-field assistant coaches if all reported hires are finalized. Here are the reported hires:
- Offensive coordinator: Buster Faulkner (officially announced)
- Quarterbacks coach: Joe Craddock
- Offensive line coach: Phil Trautwein
- Running backs coach: Chris Foster
- Wide receivers coach: Marcus Davis
- Tight ends coach: Evan McKissack
- Defensive coordinator: Brad White (officially announced)
- Defensive line coach: Gerald Chatman (officially announced)
- Outside linebackers coach: Bam Hardmon
- Inside linebackers coach: Greg Gasparato
- Safeties coach: Chris Collins
- Cornerbacks coach Brandon Harris
- Special teams coordinator: Johnathan Galante
- Strength and conditioning coach: Rusty Whitt
Sumrall was hired on Nov. 30, Sunday following the end of the regular season. He continued coaching Tulane while also making hires to his Florida staff. Tulane’s season ended with Saturday’s loss to Ole Miss in the CFP First Round. Upon the completion of the Green Wave’s season, 6 Tulane assistants were revealed Sunday to be following Sumrall to UF.
