Florida has high expectations for Jon Sumrall as he takes the reins of the Gators program.
Before facing Florida Atlantic on Sept. 5, though, comes spring practice.
The Gators will hold 14 practice sessions this spring: March 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 24, 26-28, 31, and April 2, 4, 7, and 9. It culminates in the annual Orange and Blue Game on April 11.
Florida is looking to turn the page after Billy Napier ended partway through his fourth season. It brought in Sumrall, a rising star in the coaching profession who led Tulane to its first College Football Playoff appearance in program history in 2025. Sumrall is a combined 43-12 at Troy and Tulane, including an 11-3 mark in 2025 with the Green Wave.
Some pieces of the puzzle need to be filled out, though, before spring rolls around. At the top of the list is quarterback. DJ Lagway has entered the transfer portal and is reportedly close to signing with Baylor, but could still be in the mix elsewhere.
There is some good news, however. Jadan Baugh, who ran for 1,170 yards in 2025, will remain with the Gators. He has signed an NIL deal that keeps him with the program through at least 2026.
