A starter in the Florida secondary will look to play elsewhere in 2026.
Sharif Denson told Hayes Fawcett of On3 that he plans to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal. The portal opens for entry on Jan. 2.
Denson spent 3 seasons at Florida. This past season, he appeared in all 12 games for the Gators, making 11 starts. He had 53 total tackles in 2025 with 39 solo stops and 2 TFLs, adding 1 pass breakup and 4 hurries.
Out of Jacksonville (Florida) Bartram Trail, Denson was highly sought after in the 2023 recruiting class, collecting scholarship offers from 40 programs. Denson was rated 4-stars, the No. 26 cornerback, No. 47 player in the state of Florida and No. 223 prospect overall on the 247Sports Composite.
On X (formerly Twitter), Denson’s two most recent posts are reposts of Fawcett’s report and a statement about former Florida defensive backs coach Will Harris’ departure.

Harris departed Florida after the 2024 season, joining the Miami Hurricanes.
