The injury bug is running rampant across the SEC, and with so many teams’ availability reports being full of names each week, each program needs all the help it can get.
Thus, Jon Sumrall and Florida were likely very displeased with having to suspend defensive tackle Jeramiah McCloud for this weekend’s game against Oklahoma. Per reporting from Gator Country’s Nick Marcinko, the University released a statement Wednesday on McCloud’s status:
Jeramiah McCloud has been suspended for this week’s game against Oklahoma for conduct detrimental to the team. His status with the program will be re-evaluated after this week’s contest.
While the exact cause of the suspension is still unknown, McCloud’s conduct violation means that the Florida defensive line will be operating on a thinner budget than usual Saturday.
Up to this point in the season, the Sylvester, Georgia, native had tallied 22 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks and three pass deflections.
Of course, if there’s any offense to be missing players against, it’s Oklahoma‘s. Still, Sumrall would like to have all the bodies he can up front, especially considering the fact that John Mateer can take off at a moment’s notice and force D-lineman to fatigue after chasing him over the course of 60 minutes.
