Florida targeting Georgia Tech staffer for director of scouting role, per report

The Florida Gators have reportedly locked in on their director of scouting hire, tapping Georgia Tech director of scouting Cody Collins for the same role in Gainesville.
CBS Sports reported that Collins, who also worked in the personnel and recruiting department at Georgia from 2020-24, will join new coach Jon Sumrall’s staff under general manager Dave Caldwell.
Collins, a 2022 Georgia graduate, joins an extensive Florida front office staff led by Caldwell – who joined the Gators following a long career in the NFL that included stops as the general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars and as a senior personnel director for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Caldwell worked extensively with Sumrall on Florida’s recruiting, retention and portal efforts this offseason – work that saw the Gators sign 18 of the 19 existing commitments as well as retain over 40 players from last year’s roster and lure 30 players out of the transfer portal. Among the more pivotal returners for Florida are Jadan Baugh, Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown III, Myles Graham and Jayden Woods.
Sumrall was hired by Florida after a successful two-year stint at Tulane, which included the Green Wave’s first College Football Playoff appearance this season. Florida opens the 2026 season Sept. 5 at home against Florida Atlantic.
