Florida will be without wide receiver Eugene Wilson III for the remainder of the 2025 season, interim head coach Billy Gonzales announced during his Monday press conference.

Gonzales revealed that Wilson suffered a high ankle sprain during the Week 10 game against Georgia, his standout performance of the season. Wilson did not play in this past Saturday’s loss at Kentucky and will now have a procedure.

“Tough son of a gun,” Gonzales said Monday. “I talked to our training staff. He got hurt during the Georgia game and pushed through it. Came back in the second half and just battled. I’ve said I’ve not seen a lot of people be able to do what he did, be able to come back and play in that second half with the injury that he had. So, we’re going to get cleaned up.”

Gonzales said that Wilson will have the tight-rope procedure on Wednesday, giving the wideout the best opportunity to return for spring.

Wilson is in his third year at Florida. In 2025, he logged 27 catches for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nine of those catches for 121 yards and 1 TD came in the 24-20 loss to Georgia on Nov. 1.

The Gators are also without freshman standout WR Dallas Wilson for the rest of the season. UF faces No. 6 Ole Miss on Saturday.
