The Las Vegas Raiders have waived former Alabama offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood after just one year since the team selected him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
In terms of dead money, the Raiders take a big hit here with more than $11 million in dead cap. The Raiders have had plenty of questions across the offensive line that expand beyond just Leatherwood, so it will be interesting to see how they handle that with the regular season roughly just two weeks away.
Before ultimately deciding to cut Leatherwood, there were plenty of reports emerging that the Raiders were actively pursuing trade options in this situation, so where Leatherwood may eventually land next and if he can pick up the pieces there will be something to watch.
The Raiders are set to play their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers in a road matchup on Sept. 11.
