Former Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels has been named the starting quarterback at Florida State after transferring to Tallahassee this past offseason, according to On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos.
Daniels spent the last year with the Tigers after starting his career at Stanford. He’s a dual-threat quarterback who played in 4 games for the Tigers last season, totaling 797 passing yards, 5 all-purpose touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 280 rushing yards while staying just under the required number of games to claim a redshirt. He’s accounted for 35 touchdowns across his 4-year college career and made 35 appearances for both the Tigers and Cardinal.
With that redshirt, Daniels entered the portal and landed at Florida State under head coach Mike Norvell. The Seminoles have had a rough past few seasons since finishing the 2023 regular season undefeated. Since then, the Seminoles have won a grand total of 7 games.
Daniels hopes to change that with his final season of eligibility. According to Nakos’ reporting, Daniels earned first-team reps in scrimmage and won the job over Kevin Sperry, who is returning to the Seminoles this season.
Notably, Florida State faces Alabama in Week 3 this upcoming season.
