Former Auburn running back Tank Bigsby has officially been placed on injured reserve by the Philadelphia Eagles, one day after a report that a core injury he suffered during a Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams required surgery.

Bigsby currently has 91 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, serving as the Eagles’ No. 2 back behind Saquon Barkley. On Sunday, he had 14 carries for 55 yards before being forced to leave the game.

That has thrown the Eagles’ RB room into further disarray. Barkley himself had to leave in the first quarter after suffering a hamstring injury. His status is officially week-to-week.

With Bigsby out for at least the next four weeks, if Barkley is unable to go in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, that would mean Will Shipley could be in line for most of the carries. Shipley, in his third season out of Clemson, has 15 carries for 51 yards this season.

The Eagles have a pair of practice squad running backs who could be activated: Jaydon Blue, a fifth-round pick out of Texas in 2025, played five games with the Dallas Cowboys in his rookie season and recorded a touchdown. Dameon Pierce, who ran for over 900 yards as a rookie out of Florida in 2022 with the Houston Texans, has yet to rediscover that form.
