Former Florida linebacker Jarrad Davis, a first-round NFL Draft pick, has been released by the Detroit Lions. Davis was a part of the final cut for the 53-man roster for the 2022 NFL season.

Detroit selected Davis in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft (21st overall pick) after a stellar career at Florida. Davis accumulated 201 total tackles, 106 solo tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 9 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles in his four seasons at Florida.

Davis was drafted to be the efficient starting middle linebacker for Detroit. He left Detroit via free agency to join the New York Jets, where he started in four of his 14 games last season.

Davis was brought back to Detroit’s defense to provide solid support and depth behind former Florida linebacker Alex Anzalone.
