Former Georgia safety JaCorey Thomas enters transfer portal after being granted TRO

A former Georgia safety is entering the transfer portal after being granted a TRO, according to On3. JaCorey Thomas, who participated in rookie minicamp for the Carolina Panthers, will once again test the college waters with a fifth year of eligibility.
The defensive back from Orlando was 1 of 40 players listed in the TRO by a Dallas judge and he’s 1 of 4 players that participated with an NFL franchise this offseason, including SMU wide receiver Jordan Hudson, former Washington wide receiver Omari Evans, and former Miami linebacker Wesley Bissainthe.
Thomas started for Georgia last season, amassing 45 total tackles and a sack. That sack came during Georgia’s victory vs. Alabama in the SEC championship game.
Throughout his 4 seasons in Athens, Thomas tallied 63 total tackles. Prior to be granted the TRO, On3 reported that Thomas was expected to file a lawsuit towards the NCAA. Coming out of high school, Thomas was regarded by 247Sports as the No. 26 safety in the nation and the No. 34 prospect from Florida in the Class of 2022.
Georgia is coming off a 12-2 season that ended with a loss to Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. The Bulldogs begin this season with a home game vs. Tennessee State on Sept. 5 (3 p.m. ET/SEC Network+).
