Former South Carolina WR Damiere Byrd watched in 2015 as all seven rounds of the NFL Draft went bye without his name being called.

However, he managed to sign with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent, and had made contributions to the team the past three seasons, primarily as a kick and punt returner and backup receiver.

Now, he’s on the move. On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals announced they had signed Byrd to a one-year deal.

In three NFL seasons, Byrd has returned 12 punts for 113 yards, 10 kickoffs for 294 yards and a touchdown, and has 12 catches for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

How he fits in with the Cardinals remains to be seen, but he’ll likely be an important part of the team’s receiver and returner depth.
