Former Tennessee WR released by Cleveland Browns

Former Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Cedric Tillman was released by the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Tillman was selected in the 3rd round of the 2023 NFL Draft and spent 3 seasons in Cleveland.
As Schefter mentioned in the post you can see above, the Browns recently added a pair of early-round receivers to help out Deshaun Watson; former Texas A&M WR KC Concepcion and former Washington receiver Denzel Boston. Cleveland also features veteran receiver Jerry Jeudy and 2nd year former Texas/Alabama WR Isaiah Bond.
Tillman’s NFL career started out promising. He improved from his rookie year to 2024, when he totaled 29 receptions for 339 yards and 3 touchdowns. However, nagging injuries and subsequent consistency issues slowed his progress. Across his 3 seasons in Cleveland, Tillman totaled 71 receptions for 833 yards and 5 touchdowns, prompting the Browns to move on entering 2026.
Before the NFL, Tillman was a star receiver for Tennessee during the Hendon Hooker era, during Josh Heupel’s first few seasons in Knoxville. He was especially dominant in 2021, totaling 64 receptions for 1,084 yards and 12 touchdowns. The former 2-star prospect became one of the best receivers in the SEC when healthy in his final seasons with the Vols.
