Former Vanderbilt standout Zach Cunningham has reportedly landed a big-time extension with the Houston Texans, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

“The Texans and standout linebacker Zach Cunningham have agreed to terms on a huge new extension worth $14.5 million per year in new money average, sources tell me and Tom Pelissero,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter. “Big payday for a rising star, a deal negotiated by Athletes First led by Kyle McCarthy.”

With the Texans, Cunningham has played in 46 games (including 43 starts), recording 339 tackles, including 15 tackles for loss, 7 quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and an interception.

Cunningham joined Vanderbilt in 2013 under James Franklin. After redshirting his first season, he had an impressive career with the Commodores, earning first-team All-SEC honors in 2015 and ’16 and first-team All-American recognition in his final season.

He was selected No. 57 overall in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
