Much like other polls, Georgia leapfrogged Clemson this week in the latest Football Writers Association of America poll, released on Monday, up to No. 2, from No. 3.
Five SEC teams remained in the top 16, though there was some jockeying, such as Auburn slipping from No. 6 to No. 10. But LSU, coming off the last-second win at Auburn, moved up five spots to No. 6, and received one first place vote.
Alabama received 48 first-place votes, Georgia grabbed one, and Clemson two.
Mississippi State moved up from No. 15 to No. 13.
Texas A&M and Missouri were among the teams in the “others receiving votes” category.
